West Bank: Palestinians Suffer Suffocation Amidst Clashes

Several Palestinians suffered from suffocation on Monday evening during incursions by the Israeli army into areas of the occupied West Bank. The Israeli forces also confiscated dozens of dunams of land.

According to reports, Israeli occupation forces fired sound and tear gas grenades towards homes and shops in the Shuafat refugee camp, north of occupied Jerusalem. This led to numerous cases of suffocation among residents. The incursion was accompanied by a heavy deployment of military vehicles throughout the camp’s streets and alleys.

In the central West Bank, Israeli troops reportedly stormed the town of Deir Dibwan, northeast of Ramallah. The forces positioned themselves in several neighborhoods, firing live ammunition, sound grenades, and tear gas at civilians, causing widespread fear among the local population. No injuries were reported.

Further north, the village of Odla, south of Nablus, was also targeted. Local youths confronted the army with stone-throwing. No injuries were reported in this incident either.

South of Nablus, Israeli forces raided the town of Qasra, setting up a military checkpoint on the road connecting it to the village of Jurish and conducting vehicle searches.

East of Nablus, the town of Beit Furik witnessed clashes between Palestinians and the Israeli army. The clashes involved the heavy use of sound and tear gas grenades, though no injuries were reported.

The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission stated that the Israeli army decided to seize 47 dunams of land belonging to the towns of al-Fanduqumiya and Sila al-Dhahr in the Jenin governorate, and Burqa in the Nablus governorate. A dunam is equivalent to one thousand square meters.

The commission also noted that Israeli authorities have recently been targeting the northern West Bank, particularly Tubas and Jenin, with a significant number of seizure orders for military purposes. These orders, totaling 23, aim to establish security and military infrastructure, paving the way for the intensified return of colonial settlements to the area. This, according to the commission, threatens the Palestinian geography with fragmentation and disruption.
