According to a report from Bloomberg News Agency, Be My Eyes, established in 2015, developed an application connecting visually impaired individuals with sighted volunteers who can assist them in tasks they might find challenging without support.

The start-up has also developed another artificial intelligence tool named “Be My AI,” which utilizes OpenAI’s GPT-4 language model to generate descriptions of any captured image, be it a product label or an item in a store.

Microsoft, the owner of OpenAI, plans to integrate Be My AI’s technology into their “Microsoft Disability Answer Desk,” a service dealing with customer service communications, Be My Eyes announced on Wednesday.

This partnership between Microsoft and Be My Eyes will enable visually impaired or blind users of Microsoft products to handle equipment issues and tasks such as installing a new version of the Windows operating system or describing PowerPoint presentations without human assistance.

Earlier this month at a conference for start-up developers, Sam Altman praised Be My Eyes’ use of the GPT-4 platform, highlighting it as an example of how OpenAI’s language model can transform images into inputs and produce natural text descriptions ,Microsoft Collaborates with Be My Eyes to Assist the Visually Impaired .
