Algiers, Algeria – Residents of several inland provinces are bracing for a significant drop in temperatures as a cold wave sweeps across the region. The national weather service has issued a warning, forecasting a period of intense cold, particularly during the morning and evening hours, effective Wednesday.
The provinces expected to be most affected by this cold snap include southern Tlemcen, Naama, northern El Bayadh, northern Laghouat, northern Djelfa, Batna, and northern Khenchela. Residents in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the extreme weather conditions.
According to the weather advisory, maximum temperatures are predicted to fluctuate between 4 and 6 degrees Celsius. However, the most concerning aspect of this cold wave is the anticipated drop in minimum temperatures, which could plummet as low as -5 degrees Celsius in the aforementioned regions.
DZWatch encourages residents in the affected areas to stay informed about the latest weather updates and to take appropriate measures to ensure their safety and well-being during this period of extreme cold. This includes dressing in layers, staying indoors as much as possible, and checking on vulnerable neighbors and family members.
The impending cold wave serves as a stark reminder of the diverse climate challenges faced by different regions within Algeria. While some areas grapple with desert heat, others must contend with frigid temperatures, highlighting the importance of preparedness and community support in the face of adverse weather conditions.
