The Algerian-Italian Center of Excellence for Training, Research, and Innovation in Agriculture, named after Enrico Mattei and located in Sidi Bel Abbes, Algeria, has announced an open call for applications for the position of Director General. The center is actively seeking qualified candidates from both the Algerian and Italian scientific communities.
Strengthening Algerian-Italian Cooperation
The primary goal of the center is to bolster collaboration between Algeria, Italy, and their African partners. This will be achieved through the exchange of knowledge, the development of joint scientific research, and the promotion of innovation within the agricultural sector. A key focus will be on specialized training and technology transfer aimed at addressing the agricultural and food-related challenges facing Africa.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Candidates should possess a doctorate or equivalent degree in agriculture, science, technology, social and economic sciences, education, international relations, or related fields. A proven track record in agricultural research, technological innovation, or sustainable development is essential, along with a minimum of ten years of experience in strategic management and leading multidisciplinary teams. The ability to foster international partnerships is also crucial. Fluency in both English and French (at least C1 level) is required, and knowledge of Arabic or Italian is considered a significant advantage.
Key Responsibilities
The Director General will be responsible for developing and leading the center’s overall strategy in alignment with its mission and partners. This includes overseeing administrative and financial management, developing and strengthening collaborations with academic, industrial, and governmental bodies in Algeria, Italy, and Africa. Furthermore, the Director General will promote research, innovation, and training activities, enhance the center’s international profile, and foster a stimulating and inclusive work environment.
Appointment Term
The term of appointment is for three (03) years.
