DZWatch Exclusive: The National Meteorology Office has issued a weather alert for several provinces across Algeria, warning of a significant drop in temperatures and the potential for strong wind gusts.
A level two orange alert has been issued indicating an expected cold wave. Temperatures are forecast to plummet to as low as -5 degrees Celsius in several regions. Provinces affected by the cold wave include Sidi Bel Abbes, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Laghouat, Batna, Djelfa, Tlemcen, El Bayadh, Khenchela, Naama, M’Sila, Tiaret, Oum El Bouaghi, Tebessa, Setif, and Saida. This alert remains in effect throughout the day.
In a separate level one yellow alert, the Meteorology Office also cautioned residents of strong winds and potential gusts. This warning is in effect from 6:00 AM today, Thursday, until 6:00 AM tomorrow, Friday. The provinces affected by this wind advisory are Ain Salah, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, and Adrar.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from the adverse weather conditions.
