Algiers – Ooredoo Algeria has officially launched its 5G services, marking a significant leap forward in the country’s telecommunications sector. The launch event, held at the Oval Hall of the Mohamed Boudiaf Olympic Complex in Algiers, signifies a new era of digital transformation for Algeria.
The event, themed around innovation and modernity, was attended by the Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Sid Ali Zerrouki, as well as the Qatari Ambassador to Algeria, Abdul Aziz Ali Al-Nema, and the Regional Executive Director of the Ooredoo Group, Ahmed Al-Nema. Also present was the General Manager of Ooredoo Algeria, Roni Tohme, alongside numerous company executives and partners.
The introduction of 5G technology represents a strategic move to keep pace with rapid digital advancements and meet the growing demand for high-quality connectivity solutions. Ooredoo Algeria aims to provide innovative services that anticipate the future needs of the Algerian market. The company intends to enhance its internet offerings by integrating high-value-added solutions, including cloud gaming and AI-powered services such as RED CORE, an intelligent digital assistant, and ORED, an AI-driven creative platform.
Through its upcoming 5G commercial offerings, Ooredoo Algeria aspires to foster innovation in key sectors such as Industry 4.0, digital health, connected education, and advanced digital services. The company also aims to contribute to the development of smart cities and villages across Algeria.
The launch event included a specialized discussion panel featuring experts in the digital field, who explored the opportunities and challenges of 5G technology in Algeria. Five experimental booths, under the banner “Born for 5G,” allowed attendees to discover practical applications of 5G technology in everyday life.
In his address, General Manager Roni Tohme emphasized that the launch of 5G represents a transition from the preparation phase to actual implementation, paving the way for a digitally empowered Algeria. This launch underscores Ooredoo’s commitment to driving technological progress and contributing to Algeria’s digital future.
