Fennecs Travel to Marrakech for AFCON Quarter-Final Clash

Marrakech, Morocco – The Algerian national team, the Fennecs, are en route to Marrakech today, ahead of their highly anticipated quarter-final match against Nigeria in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The squad departed Rabat earlier this morning for a short 50-minute flight to the Moroccan city.

The crucial match against the Super Eagles of Nigeria is scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, at 17:00 local time, and will be played at the iconic Marrakech Grand Stadium. This quarter-final fixture is considered one of the tournament’s highlights, pitting two of Africa’s footballing powerhouses against each other.

The Algerian team will be lodging at the Sofitel hotel in Marrakech. Should they secure a victory and advance to the semi-finals, the Fennecs will immediately return to Rabat to continue their preparations. However, in the event of elimination, the team will travel directly back to Algeria on a chartered flight.

Today’s schedule includes a press conference featuring national team coach Vladimir Petkovic and team captain Riyad Mahrez. The press conference is scheduled for 13:00 at the stadium’s press conference room.

Later this evening, the team will hold their final training session at 17:00 on the stadium’s training pitch. Coach Petkovic and his staff will be using this session to finalize their tactical and technical preparations for the showdown against Nigeria.

Algerian fans are eagerly anticipating a strong performance from the Fennecs, hoping they can continue their successful run in the tournament and secure a positive result that keeps their hopes of winning the African title alive.
