Boumerdès, January 10, 2026 – Security services in the wilaya of Boumerdès have dismantled a dangerous criminal network specializing in the trafficking of hallucinogenic drugs and the entrapment of citizens for assault. The operation resulted in the arrest of seven individuals, including one woman, according to a statement released by the wilaya’s security services on Saturday.
The statement detailed that the anti-crime unit of the wilaya’s security services successfully apprehended the criminal network, comprised of seven individuals, including a woman, aged between 26 and 38 years. All are known repeat offenders with prior criminal records.
The case originated from a complaint filed by a citizen alleging extortion and threats by a criminal network. Subsequent investigations led to the identification and arrest of the members of this dangerous network, effectively halting their criminal activities. These activities included the distribution of hallucinogenic pills, luring victims, assaulting them, and stealing their belongings while taking photos and videos for blackmail purposes.
During the arrest, authorities seized over 1,100 hallucinogenic pills, two vehicles used in their criminal operations, a quantity of cannabis, four aggressive dogs used in the assaults, and a sum of money derived from their illicit activities.
Following the completion of all legal procedures, the suspects were presented before the competent judicial authorities.
This operation marks a significant step in combating drug-related crime in the region.
