In a significant development, the flow of fuel and humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip has increased substantially through the Rafah border crossing. This comes as part of the temporary humanitarian truce agreement, which became effective this morning.

According to Egyptian media reports, seven fuel trucks entered the sector through the Rafah crossing as soon as the truce came into effect at 7:00 AM Palestine time. Additionally, plans are underway to introduce 60 trucks of humanitarian aid as the first batch today.

This truce is unprecedented since the onset of the aggressive actions against the Gaza Strip that started on October 7. The conflict has resulted in over 15,000 Palestinian casualties, including 6,150 children and more than 4,000 women, along with over 36,000 injuries.

The truce agreement primarily includes the exchange of 50 prisoners from the Gaza Strip in the first phase, in return for the release of several Palestinian women and children detained in the prisons. The agreement also provides for the release of more detainees in subsequent phases.

The four-day truce, which can be extended, allows for the entry of a larger number of humanitarian convoys and relief assistance, including fuel for humanitarian needs.

Regarding the implementation details of this agreement, the official spokesperson for the Qatari Foreign Ministry, Majed bin Mohammed Al-Ansari, revealed in a press conference yesterday that the first batch of civilian prisoners would be delivered around 4:00 PM today. He also clarified that 50 Zionist prisoners would be released over the course of four days.
