Two Unidentified Bodies Wash Ashore in Jijel Province

Jijel, Algeria – Civil Protection services in Jijel province responded to the discovery of two unidentified bodies washed ashore on separate beaches Saturday. The grim discoveries were made along the Jijel coastline following a period of rough seas.

The first body, belonging to an unidentified male, was recovered from Emerald Beach (Plage Zomorda) in the municipality of Emir Abdelkader. According to local Civil Protection authorities, the body was found in an advanced state of decomposition. Responders from the secondary unit in Ouled Salah (Tahar) were dispatched to the scene for retrieval.

In a separate incident, emergency services from the advanced ‘Aftis’ center responded to a report of a body found on the rocky beach of ‘Oued Sghir’ in the municipality of El Awana. This body, identified as female, was also in a similar state of decomposition. Authorities have confirmed that the deceased’s identity remains unknown at this time.

Following standard legal procedures, both bodies have been transferred to specialized health facilities in Tahar and El Awana. Investigations are underway to determine the identities of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding their deaths. Authorities are appealing to the public for any information that may assist in identifying the bodies. The investigations are ongoing.
