El Tarf, Algeria – Law enforcement officials in El Tarf have apprehended an individual suspected of involvement in the illegal trade and smuggling of restricted materials. The operation, conducted by the Mobile Brigade of the Judicial Police (BMPJ) of Chatt, under the jurisdiction of the El Tarf State Security, resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of white mercury.
Acting under the supervision of the competent regional prosecutor’s office, authorities successfully confiscated 1690 grams of white mercury, a substance classified as hazardous and toxic. The suspect was taken into custody following the operation.
After completing the necessary legal procedures, the accused was presented before the Public Prosecutor at the El Dreaan Court in El Tarf province. The charges relate to the possession of a prohibited and sensitive substance – white mercury – without the required legal documentation, with the intent to traffic in dangerous and poisonous materials.
The seizure underscores the ongoing efforts by Algerian law enforcement to combat the illicit trade of hazardous substances and maintain public safety within the El Tarf region. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.
