Trump Claims Iran Seeks Talks Amid Rising Tensions

President Donald Trump stated on Monday that Iranian leaders have reached out to Washington seeking negotiations, following his administration’s threats of potential action in response to ongoing protests within Iran. The protests, which have persisted for over two weeks, have sparked international concern and drawn strong reactions from the U.S. government.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, President Trump asserted, “The leaders of Iran contacted us yesterday.” He further elaborated, “A meeting is being set up… They want to negotiate, but,” he added, “we may have to move before we meet.”

The President also indicated that he is in communication with Iranian opposition figures and that his administration is actively working to provide internet access to the Iranian people. He mentioned discussing this matter with Elon Musk, the billionaire CEO of SpaceX, which operates the Starlink satellite internet service.

Earlier on Monday, President Trump revealed that his administration is considering a range of responses to the escalating unrest in Iran, including potential military options. “We are following it very closely, the military is following it, and we are looking at some very strong options. We will be making a decision,” he stated.

A White House official previously indicated that President Trump has been presented with various options for military strikes within Iran, potentially including civilian sites. The official stated that the President is seriously considering authorizing a military response. The situation remains fluid and highly sensitive.
