Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Kamel Rezig, inaugurated the first National Exhibition of Algerian Export Products today at the Mohamed Ben Ahmed Conference Center in Oran. The event, organized by the Ministry of Trade and Export Promotion, features the participation of approximately 200 public and private production companies operating in various sectors, including iron and steel, pharmaceuticals, food processing, building materials, textiles, and others.
During discussions with economic operators, Minister Rezig emphasized the significant role of the ceramics sector in the national economy. He noted its transformation in recent years from a primarily import-based industry to one exporting to four continents. In this context, he announced the ministry’s intention to establish a national ceramics exhibition in Batna, in collaboration with local authorities.
Speaking to the media, the Minister explained that the exhibition serves as a premier platform to showcase export-oriented products, presenting a diverse and high-quality sample of goods produced by various companies and economic operators. This, he stated, is a result of patience and reforms implemented by the government under the President’s program since 2020.
“We are proud today of the quality of these products exported to Europe, Asia, America, and Africa,” Rezig stated. “Their great diversity is notable, and the number of exporters is constantly increasing, and is expected to rise in the coming years, making the event bigger and more impactful.”
The Minister pointed out that the exhibition allows citizens and operators to see the quality of the products and the level of technologies and knowledge that economic operators now control, making these products eligible for export. He also affirmed that the exhibition was organized in cooperation and coordination with other ministerial sectors to ensure that these products reach as many countries as possible. Some products are exported to Europe and others to Africa, covering four continents.
The Minister called for the involvement of banks and logistics companies to establish strong cooperation between the parties involved and support the development of Algerian exports to strengthen this process. The exhibition, which continues until January 16, aims to provide a distinct economic platform to highlight the export potential of Algerian companies, showcase the quality and diversity of national products, and create opportunities for cooperation and partnership with economic operators.
Minister Rezig has set the target year of 2026 as a pivotal moment for national exports, indicating a strong push for economic diversification and increased global competitiveness. DZWatch will continue to monitor and report on these developments.
