Blida, Algeria – Civil Defense forces successfully extinguished a significant fire at a glass production and processing facility in the Al Arbaa district of Blida province on the evening of January 14, 2026.
According to the General Directorate of Civil Protection, their services intervened at 7:20 PM local time following a report of a raw material leak inside the glass production and processing plant. The incident occurred near a glass melting furnace located in the municipality and district of Al Arbaa, Blida.
Authorities have confirmed that there were no casualties resulting from the fire. Cooling and monitoring operations are ongoing to prevent any reignition.
Seven fire trucks and one ambulance were deployed to the scene by the Civil Defense in response to the emergency. The swift action of the first responders is credited with preventing further damage and ensuring the safety of the surrounding area.
The cause of the initial raw material leak is currently under investigation. Authorities are working with the factory management to assess the extent of the damage and implement preventative measures to avoid similar incidents in the future.
