Teacher Recruitment Deadline Extended in Select Regions

Algiers – The Ministry of National Education has announced an exceptional extension to the registration deadline for the 2025 teacher recruitment examinations. This extension applies specifically to certificate-based recruitment for teaching positions.

The decision comes in response to a shortage of applicants in several educational directorates, particularly in comparison to the number of available positions. According to an official statement, the Ministry’s action reflects its commitment to monitoring the recruitment process and ensuring adequate pedagogical staffing across all educational institutions.

Following approval from the Directorate General of Public Service and Administrative Reform, the registration period has been exceptionally extended from Thursday, January 15, 2026, to January 20, 2026. This extension benefits candidates applying for positions as primary school teachers (first division), middle school teachers (first division), and high school teachers (first division) in specific disciplines and provinces.

The extension covers several subjects, including physical education and sports, Islamic education, music, art, and languages, depending on the needs identified by the relevant education directorates. Notably, an exceptional exemption from the residency card requirement will be granted.

The Ministry of National Education emphasizes that registration and file submission must be completed exclusively through the National Office of Examinations and Competitions electronic platform: https://concours.onec.dz. The process remains subject to the conditions and procedures outlined in the decision regulating certificate-based recruitment competitions for the year 2025.

The Ministry further clarified that this measure is exceptional and will only be implemented after all eligible candidates within the province have been considered. Priority will always be given to residents of the province, provided they meet the legal requirements. This extension aims to ensure that all schools have sufficient teaching staff for the upcoming academic year.
