Algiers – The Independent National Elections Authority (ANIE) announced today that the national electorate has surpassed 24.5 million voters following the periodic review of electoral rolls for 2025.
According to the ANIE, the total number of registered voters now stands at 24,503,060, encompassing Algerian citizens both within the country and residing abroad. This figure reflects the outcome of a comprehensive review process designed to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the electoral lists.
The periodic review, mandated by electoral law, aims to update voter registration information, remove deceased individuals from the rolls, and incorporate newly eligible citizens. This meticulous process is considered crucial for maintaining a transparent and reliable electoral system.
The ANIE emphasized its commitment to ensuring that all eligible citizens have the opportunity to exercise their right to vote in upcoming elections. The authority has undertaken various initiatives to encourage voter registration and participation, particularly among young people and those living in remote areas.
The updated electoral roll will be used in all future national and local elections. The ANIE has called on citizens to verify their registration status and report any discrepancies to the relevant authorities. Further details on how to check registration status are available on the ANIE’s official website and through local election offices.
The announcement of the updated electorate size marks a significant step in Algeria’s electoral preparations. The ANIE continues to work towards ensuring a free, fair, and transparent electoral process in accordance with the law and international standards.
