Algiers, January 14, 2026 – The Ministry of National Education has announced an exceptional extension for registration in the teacher recruitment competitions for the year 2025. This decision addresses shortages in candidate numbers reported by certain regional education directorates relative to the available positions.
According to a statement released today, the extension reflects the Ministry’s ongoing monitoring of the competition process and its commitment to ensuring adequate pedagogical staffing across all educational institutions. A deficit in applicant numbers was observed in specific regions and subject areas.
Following approval from the General Directorate of Public Service and Administrative Reform, the registration period has been extended from Thursday, January 15th, until January 20th, 2026. This extension applies to candidates seeking positions as: First-level Primary School Teachers, First-level Middle School Teachers, and First-level High School Teachers.
The extension is applicable to specific subjects and regions, detailed in an accompanying table (not included here). Critically, candidates are exceptionally exempted from providing proof of residency.
The Ministry emphasized that registration and submission of required documents must be completed exclusively through the National Office of Examinations and Competitions’ online platform. The process remains consistent with the procedures and conditions outlined in Circular No. 713, dated December 11, 2025, and its appendices, which govern the organization of certificate-based teacher recruitment competitions for 2025.
The Ministry of National Education clarified that this extension is an exceptional measure invoked only after exhausting local candidates within the respective region. The Ministry reaffirmed that priority will, in all cases, be given to residents of the regions listed below.
