Béchar police have seized nearly 5,000 ecstasy pills in a targeted operation against illicit drug trafficking. Officers from the 2nd Mobile Brigade of the Judicial Police, under the Béchar Security Directorate, apprehended a suspect and confiscated 4,988 solid ecstasy tablets following intelligence indicating the individual planned to transport a significant quantity of narcotics from Oran via the Oran-Béchar train line.
Field investigations, supported by surveillance and monitoring of the suspect under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecutor’s office, led to his arrest near the train station. He was found carrying a plastic bag containing the seized narcotics, which he allegedly intended to sell and distribute within the urban areas of Béchar.
The suspect has been presented before the Republic Prosecutor at the Béchar Court and will face legal proceedings. The operation highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat drug trafficking and maintain public safety in the region.
This seizure represents a significant blow to drug trafficking networks operating in the area. Authorities are continuing their investigations to identify and apprehend any accomplices involved in this criminal activity.
