Director General Position Opens at Algerian-Italian Excellence Center

Sidi Bel Abbes, Algeria – The Algerian-Italian Center of Excellence for Training, Research, and Innovation in Agriculture, named after Enrico Mattei, has announced the opening of applications for the position of Director General. This move aims to strengthen the center’s scientific governance and enhance its regional and international role in agricultural training, research, and innovation.

Located in Sidi Bel Abbes, the center emphasizes that the call for applications is directed towards qualified individuals from both Algeria and Italy. The ideal candidate will contribute to the leadership of this strategic institution, which focuses on fostering scientific collaboration, supporting innovation, and facilitating the exchange of expertise in the agricultural sector, in partnership with African stakeholders.

The “Enrico Mattei” Center serves as a hub for promoting joint scientific research, developing innovative solutions, and transferring technology to address agricultural and food challenges while fostering sustainable development in Africa.

Eligibility criteria include a doctoral degree or its equivalent in agriculture-related fields such as science, technology, socio-economics, or international relations. Applicants must also possess a minimum of ten years of professional experience in strategic management and leading multidisciplinary teams, along with a proven ability to build international partnerships. Fluency in English and French is required, while knowledge of Arabic or Italian is considered a plus.

The Director General will be responsible for setting the overall strategy and overseeing the center’s administrative and financial management. The role also encompasses developing collaborative relationships with academic, industrial, and governmental bodies in Algeria, Italy, and Africa, as well as promoting research and training activities and enhancing the center’s international visibility.

The appointment term is for three years, renewable. Applicants are required to submit a detailed curriculum vitae, a two-page maximum cover letter, and contact information for three professional references, preferably including one from an international institution.
