Algeria’s Oil Production Climbs for Eighth Consecutive Month

Algiers – Algeria’s crude oil production continued its upward trajectory in December 2025, marking the eighth consecutive month of growth. According to the latest report from OPEC, production increased by 6,000 barrels per day (bpd) compared to November.

At the close of December, Algerian oil output reached its highest level in over two and a half years, nearing the 973,000 bpd recorded in May 2023. The average oil production for 2025 stood at 933,000 bpd, a significant increase from the 907,000 bpd recorded the previous year. This rise reflects Algeria’s commitment to its OPEC+ alliance plans.

This production surge is part of the broader OPEC+ strategy, which includes gradual voluntary production cuts. Member states concluded the reinstatement of 2.2 million bpd in cuts in September 2025 and began phasing out the second cut of 1.65 million bpd in October. Production levels are expected to remain stable throughout the first quarter of 2026.

Data indicates that Algeria’s December 2025 production reached 970,000 bpd, up from 964,000 bpd in November. This figure is very close to Algeria’s official target of 971,000 bpd, a level projected to be maintained until the end of March 2026. These production levels are in line with Algeria’s commitment to the OPEC+ policy, which aims to reduce production by 2 million bpd – a policy initiated nearly three years ago and set to continue until the end of December 2026.

The report also revealed that total OPEC+ production decreased to 42.83 million bpd in December, compared to 43.06 million bpd in November. Meanwhile, OPEC production increased to 28.56 million bpd from 28.45 million bpd in the previous month. Saudi Arabia’s production exceeded 10.07 million bpd, while Iraq’s reached 4.11 million.
