Algiers, January 14, 2026 – The Minister of the Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-enterprises, Noureddine Ouahdouh, received a delegation from the University of Naples Parthenope yesterday evening at the ‘Algeria Venture’ accelerator headquarters.
The delegation was led by Antonio Garofalo, President of the University, and accompanied by the Italian Ambassador to Algeria, Alberto Cutillo. According to a statement from the Ministry, this visit falls within the framework of Algerian-Italian cooperation focused on ‘developing entrepreneurial skills in Algeria.’
During the meeting, both parties discussed methods to develop the necessary capabilities for establishing innovative ecosystems. They also explored ways to strengthen a joint approach in the field of micro-enterprises.
The visit included presentations by executives from the Ministry of the Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-enterprises, as well as professors from the Italian university. These presentations provided the Italian delegation with insights into the startup ecosystem in Algeria, including mechanisms for promoting entrepreneurship through agencies such as ANGEM, NESDA, and the National Agency for Self-Entrepreneurs (ANAE).
The Italian side presented an overview of programs designed to enhance entrepreneurial capabilities within universities and explored avenues for collaboration towards sustainable development.
This initiative represents a significant step in strengthening cooperation between Algeria and Italy in the fields of entrepreneurship and innovation. This collaboration is expected to foster further growth and development within Algeria’s burgeoning startup sector.
