New Environmental Training Programs Launched in Algeria

Algiers, January 15, 2026 – A new initiative to integrate environmental awareness and skills into Algeria’s vocational training sector was unveiled today. The Ministers of Environment and Quality of Life, and Vocational Training and Education, oversaw the signing of a cooperation protocol aimed at modernizing training programs to address pressing environmental challenges.

The agreement focuses on incorporating new environmental specializations into vocational training curricula. This aims to align educational content with the demands of the job market and current environmental priorities. A key objective is to support young graduates with innovative ideas and projects in environmental entrepreneurship, fostering a transition towards green jobs and a circular economy.

The initiative also includes support for graduates seeking to establish environmentally-focused businesses. This will be done in collaboration with the National Agency for Microcredit Management (ANGEM), to ensure access to financing and mentorship for promising environmental projects.

As part of the launch, the ministerial delegation visited a leading paper recycling facility in Algiers. This visit highlighted the importance of waste recovery and recycling in promoting sustainable development, creating employment opportunities, and encouraging investment in the recycling sector. The visit showcased the facility’s role in collecting and processing waste paper, and its contribution to sustainable practices.

This initiative represents a significant step towards integrating environmental considerations into Algeria’s economic development strategy, and empowering the next generation of environmental professionals.
