The Ministry of National Education has announced plans to equip all primary schools across the country with electronic tablets by the end of the current year. This initiative is part of a broader effort to modernize the educational system and alleviate the burden on students.
Speaking at a parliamentary session, the Minister of National Education, Mohamed Saghir Sadaoui, stated that significant financial resources have been allocated to facilitate the nationwide distribution of tablets, particularly for students in the third, fourth, and fifth grades.
The Minister clarified that the tablets are intended solely as replacements for traditional textbooks, with the primary goal of reducing the weight of school bags. He emphasized that the devices will not be used for completing educational activities or solving exercises within the classroom.
Currently, approximately 18 percent of primary schools are already equipped with these tablets. Minister Sadaoui highlighted that the full implementation of the program requires several preliminary steps, including teacher training, classroom preparation, the establishment of secure storage areas for the tablets within schools, and the provision of ongoing technical support.
“The introduction of tablets represents a significant step forward in our efforts to modernize the educational landscape,” Minister Sadaoui noted. “We are committed to providing our students with the tools they need to succeed in the 21st century.”
In a related matter, the Minister reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening the educational system through the construction of new pedagogical facilities. He acknowledged that building these structures is a major challenge for the sector, but one to which considerable financial resources are being dedicated to ensure improved learning conditions and quality education.
The Ministry views investment in both technology and infrastructure as essential to creating a robust and effective educational system for all Algerian students.
