Heavy Snowfall Expected in Highland Regions This Weekend

Algiers, Algeria – Heavy snowfall is anticipated across Algeria’s highlands this weekend, according to a special weather advisory issued today. The National Meteorological Office predicts significant snow accumulation in areas exceeding 1000 meters in altitude.

The advisory, categorized as level two on the weather vigilance map, indicates that snowfall depths could range from 10 to 50 centimeters in several wilayas. These include Tiaret, Tissemsilt, Laghouat, and Djelfa. The alert is in effect from 9:00 PM Saturday until midday on Sunday.

A separate warning has also been issued for snowfall in regions between 1000 and 1200 meters. Similar accumulations of 10 to 50 centimeters are expected in the wilayas of Bechar, Tlemcen, Naama, Sidi Bel Abbes, Saida, and El Bayadh. This particular alert is valid from midday Saturday until 6:00 AM on Sunday.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions and monitor weather updates closely.
