Israeli occupation forces conducted raids in several towns within the Ramallah district of the occupied West Bank today, carrying out arrests and searching numerous homes. The incursions sparked confrontations and heightened tensions in the region.
Reports indicate that Israeli soldiers stormed the center of Al-Mughayyir, a town in the Ramallah area. Witnesses reported the heavy use of live ammunition and sound grenades during the operation.
Furthermore, the Al-Khalael area within Al-Mughayyir village was declared a closed military zone, effectively barring access to foreigners. Sources on the ground stated that Israeli soldiers and settlers raided Palestinian homes in the area, confiscating surveillance cameras. Four international activists who were documenting settler violence against the family were reportedly detained by the Israeli forces.
The Al-Khalael area has been subjected to daily attacks by settlers and continuous incursions by the Israeli military, creating a climate of fear and instability for residents.
Earlier today, three young Palestinian men were arrested by Israeli forces in Kafr Malik, east of Ramallah. Dozens of homes were reportedly searched, and infrastructure was damaged on the town’s main street.
Before withdrawing from Kafr Malik, Israeli forces imposed a security blockade, disrupting the movement of residents and forcing shop owners to close their businesses. This was allegedly done under the pretext of searching for individuals who had thrown an explosive device and a Molotov cocktail towards an Israeli military outpost near the town.
Since the start of the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip on October 8, 2023, the West Bank has witnessed an unprecedented escalation by the Israeli army and settlers. These actions include raids, arrests, property destruction, and the expansion of settlement projects, constituting a clear violation of international law.
According to official Palestinian data, Israeli aggression in the West Bank has resulted in the deaths of approximately 1,106 Palestinians, with around 11,000 injured and over 21,000 arrested since the escalation began.
