Washington D.C. – The White House announced the formation of a Gaza Peace Council and the appointment of a High Representative for Gaza earlier today, coinciding with the commencement of operations by the Palestinian technocratic committee tasked with managing the region. This development follows two days after the initiation of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement.
Nikolai Mladenov has been appointed by the White House as the High Representative for Gaza. The newly established Peace Council includes prominent figures such as U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, former Trump Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and Jared Kushner.
Furthermore, Arieh Lightstone and Josh Greenbaum have been named as advisors to the Peace Council. The White House indicated that a Gaza Executive Council is being established to support both the High Representative’s office and the National Committee for the Management of Gaza.
General Jasper Jeffers has been appointed as the commander of the International Stabilization Force.
The U.S. plan, unveiled late last year, which led to the fragile ceasefire in Gaza, stipulates that former President Trump will chair the Council.
Earlier on Friday, Ali Shaath, head of the Palestinian National Committee for the Management of Gaza, stated in a press conference that the committee has officially begun its work from Cairo, in preparation for moving to the Gaza Strip to commence the implementation of an emergency relief plan for the Palestinian people.
Following delays from Israel, Steve Witkoff announced last Wednesday the commencement of the second phase of the agreement, which includes the transition to disarmament, the formation of a technocratic government, and the commencement of reconstruction.
