Gaza: Death Toll Exceeds 71,500 Amid Ongoing Conflict

The Palestinian Ministry of Health reports that the death toll in Gaza has risen to 71,548, with 171,353 injured since October 7, 2023. The majority of casualties are women and children, according to the authorities.

In the last 24 hours, one fatality and six injuries were reported and transferred to hospitals in the Gaza Strip. Tragically, a 27-day-old infant succumbed to the severe cold, bringing the total number of child deaths due to cold weather this winter to eight.

Many victims remain trapped under rubble and in roadways, with rescue and civil defense teams unable to reach them due to continuous bombardment and difficult field conditions.

Since the implementation of the ceasefire in October, authorities claim ongoing violations have resulted in 464 deaths and 1,275 injuries. During the same period, the bodies of 712 victims have been recovered.

For over a year, Gaza has endured extensive destruction, resulting in widespread casualties, starvation, and displacement. Health officials have repeatedly stated that international appeals and directives from the International Court of Justice calling for a cessation of these actions have largely been ignored.

The ongoing situation in Gaza remains dire, with the healthcare system struggling to cope with the immense strain. International aid and intervention are urgently needed to alleviate the suffering of the civilian population and ensure the protection of vulnerable individuals.
