Syrian Government Accuses SDF of Executing Prisoners in Tabqa

The Syrian government has strongly condemned the alleged execution of prisoners and detainees in the city of Tabqa, located in the Raqqa Governorate, by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The accusations come following the Syrian Army’s advance into the city.

According to a statement, relayed by Syrian Information Minister Hamza Al-Mustafa, the government views the alleged killings as a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions. The statement asserted that the execution of prisoners constitutes a war crime.

The Syrian government holds the SDF fully responsible for these alleged actions and has vowed to ensure justice for the victims’ families. They have also called upon the international community to condemn what they describe as a criminal act.

Reports and unverified footage circulating on social media purportedly show the bodies of several prisoners allegedly executed by SDF forces near the entrance to Tabqa. Local sources claim these executions occurred near the Church roundabout.

Earlier today, the Syrian Information Minister announced that the Syrian Army had taken control of the strategically important city of Tabqa, including the Euphrates Dam, Syria’s largest dam, and the military airport. However, later reports indicate ongoing clashes in the vicinity of Tabqa following the army’s declared control.

The situation remains fluid, and DZWatch continues to monitor developments closely.
