Oran, Algeria – In a significant operation targeting organized crime and safeguarding public health, Algerian customs authorities in Oran have dealt a blow to drug trafficking networks. A well-coordinated field operation in the Oran region resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of psychotropic pills.
According to customs sources, the mobile inspection unit, in close coordination with a detachment of the People’s National Army, successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle a substantial amount of hallucinogenic tablets. The operation led to the confiscation of 6,358 Ecstasy pills, along with 19 Pregabalin 300mg tablets of foreign origin. Authorities also seized 3,030,000 Algerian dinars and a vehicle used to transport the illicit substances.
Three individuals were arrested in connection with the case and presented before the Quedil court for further legal proceedings, pending the outcome of judicial investigations. This operation is part of a broader security strategy aimed at eliminating drug sources and combating the circulation of narcotics and psychotropic substances. It also strengthens coordination between various security forces to maintain the security and stability of society, particularly protecting young people from the dangers of these scourges.
