Future Front Leader: Party Law a Chance to Strengthen Politics

FATEH Boutbig, head of the Future Front party, has stated that the proposed law on political parties presents a valuable opportunity to strengthen the political landscape and solidify the rule of law in Algeria.

Speaking at the National Day of the Municipality celebrations, Boutbig emphasized the importance of updates within the draft law, particularly concerning the limitation of terms for party leaders. He explained that the Future Front, guided by its internal regulations, approaches term limits from the perspective of fostering a strong political future. This approach, he stated, aims to build a party that meets the aspirations of all Algerians.

“In my opinion, a political figure’s worth isn’t defined by the number of terms they serve,” Boutbig asserted, adding that the party believes in establishing refined political traditions that guarantee freedom of decision-making for its members.

He further elaborated, “The issue of term limits is part of a constitutional vision, a component of political reform aimed at injecting fresh perspectives and fortifying political parties.” Boutbig pointed out that term limits are already in place in other constitutional institutions, such as the parliament and the presidency. This, he explained, promotes the revitalization of political action without diminishing the value or stature of political figures, ultimately enhancing the stability and strength of parties.

Regarding the municipal and provincial law, the Future Front leader highlighted the inclusive participation of various stakeholders, including parties and other actors, under the President’s supervision. This collaborative effort seeks to produce a law that addresses the needs of local communities.

Boutbig expressed hope that the President would schedule the draft law for review and that the government would submit it to parliament for approval during the current term. This, he believes, would ensure a strong start for local communities in the upcoming term.

Concerning the upcoming legislative elections, Boutbig affirmed the Future Front’s readiness. He emphasized the party’s commitment to engaging with citizens, conducting regular meetings, mobilizing support, proposing constructive ideas, and attracting a wider audience to political life and the electoral process. He stated that the Future Front, which achieved third place nationally in a previous election, is prepared for the challenges ahead.
