Doha, Qatar – Lieutenant General Saïd Chengriha, Chief of Staff of the Algerian People’s National Army, attended the opening ceremony of the 9th Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX 2026) on Monday, during his official visit to Qatar. This prestigious event is held under the patronage of the Emir of Qatar.
Following the opening, Lieutenant General Chengriha and his delegation toured the exhibition, closely examining the displayed equipment and technology, including advanced weaponry and weapons systems. He received detailed explanations and presentations from representatives at various pavilions.
Lieutenant General Chengriha was received by Dr. Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs, where he expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and hospitality. Discussions focused on strengthening military cooperation between the two nations, an area experiencing significant growth due to the continuous support and shared commitment of both countries’ leaders.
Dr. Al Attiyah lauded the high level of bilateral military cooperation between Algeria and Qatar. The two officials exchanged symbolic gifts at the conclusion of their meeting.
Lieutenant General Chengriha also held a cordial meeting with Lieutenant General (Pilot) Jassem bin Mohammed Al Mannai, Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces. They addressed the current state of military cooperation and explored avenues to further enhance it, aligning with the excellent relations between Algeria and Qatar and meeting the aspirations of their respective leaders.
Lieutenant General Chengriha highlighted the positive momentum and significant progress in Algerian-Qatari relations in recent years. Lieutenant General Al Mannai praised the level of bilateral military cooperation and expressed his appreciation for Lieutenant General Chengriha’s acceptance of the invitation to visit. The meeting concluded with an exchange of symbolic gifts.
