Algeria and Uganda Strengthen Security Cooperation

Algiers, Algeria – In a move highlighting the robust bilateral relations between Algeria and Uganda, the General Directorate of National Security welcomed an official delegation from the Ugandan Police Force today, January 19, 2026. This visit underscores the commitment to supporting and developing police cooperation between the two nations.

The visit commenced with an extensive working session, bringing together key officials from the Algerian National Security and their Ugandan counterparts. The session focused on reviewing professional experiences and exchanging expertise. Discussions also encompassed a range of issues of mutual interest, most notably enhancing operational capabilities, modernizing policing methods, and expanding training opportunities.

Furthermore, the visiting delegation conducted a field visit to the Maritime Border Police Service at the Port of Algiers. During the visit, the delegation received a detailed overview of the organizational structure, border procedures for regulating passenger entry and exit, and security measures implemented to secure port facilities and protect vital infrastructure.

The Ugandan delegation is expected to continue their program with field visits to several specialized operational services affiliated with the National Security. These visits aim to provide insights into Algeria’s leading experience, particularly in the areas of combating organized crime and enhancing urban security.

This visit reaffirms both countries’ dedication to consolidating security partnerships and exchanging expertise. Such collaboration is crucial for enhancing the readiness of police forces and addressing shared security challenges at both regional and international levels.
