President Tebboune Unveils Roadmap for Agricultural Mechanization

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune today chaired a working meeting dedicated to the mechanization of agriculture, marking a significant step towards modernizing the sector and boosting national food production.

During the meeting, President Tebboune outlined a comprehensive roadmap designed to enhance agricultural productivity through strategic mechanization initiatives. A key element of this plan is the establishment of specialized cooperatives that will lease agricultural equipment of all types to farmers. This initiative aims to facilitate access to modern machinery, enabling farmers to cultivate larger areas of land and improve overall yield. The move aligns with recent decisions and recommendations made by the Council of Ministers.

In a related development, President Tebboune also announced the creation of a National Council for Agricultural Mechanization. This council will play a crucial role in coordinating efforts, setting standards, and promoting innovation within the agricultural machinery sector. The council is expected to foster collaboration between government agencies, research institutions, and private sector companies involved in the design, manufacturing, and distribution of agricultural equipment.

The meeting was attended by key government officials, including the Director of the Presidential Cabinet, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development and Fisheries, the Minister of Industry, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, as well as representatives from various Algerian companies and institutions involved in the manufacturing and production of agricultural equipment.

The roadmap and the establishment of the National Council for Agricultural Mechanization signal a strong commitment from the Algerian government to transform the agricultural sector and enhance its contribution to the national economy. The focus on mechanization is expected to improve efficiency, reduce labor costs, and ultimately increase the competitiveness of Algerian agricultural products in both domestic and international markets.
