Algiers – A unified trilingual guide aimed at standardizing trade and economic terminology in Algeria has been officially launched. The initiative, spearheaded by the Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Kamal Rezig, the Minister of Internal Trade and Regulation of the National Market, Amal Abdelatif, and the President of the Higher Council of the Arabic Language, Saleh Belaid, is being hailed as a significant step towards modernizing and harmonizing commercial and economic discourse within the country.
The launch ceremony took place at the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, with the attendance of senior officials and representatives from relevant organizations. The guide features a trilingual glossary (Arabic, French, and English) containing over 1450 commonly used terms in the fields of trade and economics. Each term is accompanied by detailed explanations and related administrative documents.
Minister Kamal Rezig emphasized that the guide serves as a practical and linguistic reference tool designed to unify and simplify terminology for all stakeholders in the sector. He believes it will contribute to enhanced transparency and improved quality in commercial transactions. He further encouraged its widespread adoption by professionals, researchers, students, and economic operators.
Minister Amal Abdelatif highlighted the guide’s importance as a practical instrument for facilitating coordination between institutions, improving communication among operators, and elevating economic and commercial discourse. She asserted that its impact would directly contribute to market regulation and consumer protection.
The President of the Higher Council of the Arabic Language described the guide as the culmination of collaborative scientific work, based on a rigorous methodology and continuous monitoring and evaluation mechanisms. He emphasized its role in supporting institutional communication, promoting the use of the Arabic language in the economic and commercial domains, and mitigating issues arising from varying interpretations of technical terms in legal and regulatory texts.
The launch concluded with the honoring of the members of the scientific committee who contributed to the guide’s creation, in recognition of their efforts in producing this reference work, which is expected to significantly enhance Algeria’s trade and economic framework. This initiative represents a concerted effort to streamline communication and foster a more transparent and efficient business environment in Algeria. The guide is now available for public use.
