Sonelgaz, Algeria’s national electricity and gas company, has initiated the second phase of its plan to supply customers’ homes with carbon monoxide detectors, expanding the operation nationwide. The first phase, launched in April, successfully covered 21 provinces in the high plateaus region.

According to Sonelgaz’s recent statement, the company’s services include the provision and installation of two carbon monoxide detection devices in each household, free of charge. This initiative is conducted after inspecting the internal setup of the customer’s home to ensure compliance with safety and security standards.

The statement further elaborated that the process follows a pre-announced schedule, publicized through posters in the targeted neighborhoods and various available communication channels.

It’s important to note that the Sonelgaz Distribution branch responsible for executing this plan has also launched an annual awareness campaign on the safe use of gas. The campaign features study days organized at all distribution directorates nationwide, focusing on “The Importance of Maintaining Internal Networks and Monitoring Channels for the Disposal of Combusted Gases.” The campaign sees the participation of various field operatives and partners.

This initiative by Sonelgaz reflects a significant commitment to public safety and customer service, ensuring the wellbeing of Algerian citizens through proactive measures against the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning.
