During his address, Ambassador Bladehane reaffirmed Algeria’s commitment to multilateral approaches and the principles of the United Nations Charter. He further emphasized Algeria’s steadfast support for disarmament endeavors across all forums, including its current tenure on the UN Security Council for the 2024-2025 term.

“Algeria firmly believes in the power of diplomacy and multilateralism to achieve a world free from the threat of weapons of mass destruction,” stated Ambassador Bladehane. He highlighted the necessity of addressing current geopolitical risks and the rapid pace of technological advancements, acknowledging their potential impact on disarmament frameworks.

The Ambassador emphasized the importance of strengthening the international legal framework for disarmament through binding mechanisms that are aligned with these evolving challenges. This, he argued, would ensure the effectiveness and relevance of disarmament efforts in the face of modern threats. Algeria is committed to working with the international community to promote a more secure and peaceful world through sustained and meaningful disarmament initiatives.

Algeria’s consistent stance on disarmament reflects its deep commitment to international peace and security. The nation actively participates in global efforts aimed at reducing and eliminating weapons of mass destruction, contributing to a safer and more stable world for future generations.
