The arrest follows the circulation of a video on Facebook showing a driver operating a Renault Master van in the wrong direction on the new highway near Hussein municipality.
The video, flagged by the Gendarmerie’s cybercrime unit, depicted the driver’s dangerous maneuver, posing a significant threat to both his own safety and the safety of other motorists. Upon the video’s emergence, authorities launched an immediate investigation to identify the driver.
The investigation revealed that the driver was operating the vehicle in a manner that flagrantly violated traffic safety regulations, potentially leading to severe accidents with significant material and human consequences. The driver was subsequently apprehended by officers from the National Gendarmerie brigade in Sig and taken into custody for further questioning.
