Gaza Strip – One hundred days after the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement on October 10th, Hamas has asserted its complete adherence to the terms, while simultaneously detailing alleged Israeli violations and outlining nine demands for international mediators.
In a statement released earlier today, Hamas addressed mediators – including Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey – as well as international organizations, stressing its commitment to the agreement. The group emphasized that it views the ceasefire as a binding framework designed to protect the Palestinian people and halt bloodshed, rather than a political cover for continued aggression or policies of what they termed ‘extermination’.
Hamas claims that, despite its commitment, Israeli forces have continued to target and kill Palestinian civilians. The group condemned what it described as field and fire violations, as well as the ongoing imposition of a coercive reality by the Israeli occupation.
The statement detailed alleged Israeli violations over the past 100 days, categorized by severity. Hamas claims that 483 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire went into effect, including 169 children, 64 women, and 19 elderly individuals. They also reported 1294 injuries, averaging 13 per day, alleging that 96.3% of those killed were targeted within the designated ‘yellow line’ area.
According to Hamas, there have been a total of 1298 alleged violations of the agreement, averaging 13 per day. These include 428 instances of direct gunfire, 66 incursions by military vehicles into areas covered by the agreement, and 604 cases of aerial and artillery bombardment of populated civilian areas. The statement also cited 200 instances of demolitions targeting residential areas. Hamas is calling on mediators to address these alleged violations and ensure the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement.
The nine demands outlined by Hamas are aimed at achieving lasting peace and stability in the region. These demands were not explicitly detailed in the provided statement.
