Severe Weather Alert: Heavy Rain, Snowfall Across Algeria

Several regions of Algeria are bracing for severe weather conditions, with heavy thunderstorms and significant snowfall expected across numerous provinces. Residents are urged to exercise caution and remain vigilant in the face of potentially hazardous conditions.

The national weather service has issued warnings for substantial rainfall and thunderstorms in the northeastern wilayas of El Tarf, Annaba, Souk Ahras, Guelma, Skikda, Constantine, Jijel, Mila, Setif, Bejaia, and Bordj Bou Arreridj. These conditions may lead to flash flooding and a rapid rise in water levels in vulnerable areas. Authorities are advising residents in these regions to take necessary precautions to protect themselves and their property.

Extremely heavy rainfall is also anticipated in the central and western regions of Tizi Ouzou, Boumerdes, Bouira, Algiers, Blida, Medea, Tipaza, Ain Defla, Tissemsilt, Tiaret, Chlef, Relizane, Mostaganem, Mascara, and Saida. Motorists are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution on the roads due to reduced visibility and the increased risk of accidents.

In addition to the rainfall, a special weather advisory has been issued regarding snowfall in areas above 1000 meters in altitude. The provinces of Khenchela, Batna, Djelfa, Laghouat, Tissemsilt, Tiaret, Saida, El Bayadh, Sidi Bel Abbes, Naama, and Tlemcen are expected to experience significant snowfall. Travel in mountainous areas may be severely impacted.
