Algeria and Greece Seek to Boost Economic Ties

Athens, Greece – State Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of the National Community Abroad, Sofiane Chaib, co-chaired the Algerian-Greek Economic Forum in Athens on Tuesday, alongside the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Harry Theocharis. The forum took place on the sidelines of the third session of the Joint Committee between the two nations.

The event saw significant participation from economic institutions from both Algeria and Greece. These institutions represent key sectors including hydrocarbons, construction, energy, renewable energy, public works, food industries, startups, transportation, and tourism.

During his address, State Secretary Chaib lauded the existing bilateral relations. He emphasized the need to strengthen economic cooperation by increasing and diversifying the volume of bilateral trade. He also stressed the importance of realizing profitable and sustainable investment projects. He issued a call to action, urging the activation of the Algerian-Greek Business Council. This activation is intended to provide a strong impetus to bilateral cooperation and partnership relations.

The forum provided a valuable platform for Algerian and Greek economic operators to hold productive meetings. It allowed them to showcase the business climate and investment opportunities available in their respective countries. Furthermore, the forum facilitated the establishment of collaborative relationships and the exploration of new avenues for investment and partnership. This initiative aims to foster stronger economic ties between Algeria and Greece, creating mutually beneficial opportunities for growth and development.
