African Federations Urged to Unite Against CAF ‘Lobby’

DZWatch Exclusive: Calls are growing for African football federations to unite and challenge what is being described as a corrupt lobby within the Confederation of African Football (CAF) at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Following recent controversies, prominent voices are urging a unified front to address alleged systemic issues plaguing African football. Concerns have been raised about the integrity of decision-making processes and the need for greater transparency within the organization.

The call to action centers on filing a formal complaint with CAS, accompanied by substantial evidence of alleged corruption and unethical practices. This unified approach aims to expose the purported issues and demand significant reforms within CAF.

‘It is imperative that African federations stand together as one and challenge this unacceptable behavior,’ said one analyst. ‘The future of African football depends on holding those responsible accountable and implementing measures to prevent similar situations from occurring again.’

The proposed legal challenge seeks the dissolution of the current executive committee and its associated commissions, particularly the refereeing committee. Furthermore, it advocates for a complete overhaul of the system, emphasizing the importance of excluding FIFA from the process, citing its alleged role in perpetuating corruption within football.

The push for action reflects a growing sentiment that only a strong, unified stance can effectively address the deep-seated problems within CAF. The hope is that CAS will act impartially and uphold the principles of fair play and integrity, safeguarding the future of African football. Failure to act, it is warned, risks perpetuating these issues, potentially leading to further controversies and undermining the sport’s credibility across the continent.
