Algeria Sets Stage for Audiovisual Reform, Youth Support, Climate Adaptation

Algiers – The Algerian government is forging ahead with key reforms and initiatives, focusing on audiovisual regulation, support for young caregivers, and climate change adaptation. A government meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Sifi Grib, addressed a range of organizational, social, and environmental issues, signaling a commitment to comprehensive sector governance.

At the forefront of discussions was a draft executive decree outlining the conditions and procedures for engaging in audiovisual production and related activities. This measure aims to complete the regulatory framework for the audiovisual sector, establishing clear and standardized rules for practitioners. The initiative also seeks to integrate digital solutions into the application and processing procedures, ensuring efficiency, transparency, and faster processing times.

The government also examined mechanisms and programs designed to provide responsible and sustainable care for young caregivers who have reached the age of 18. The goal is to create a specific framework that supports these individuals in their transition towards independence, professional integration, and social inclusion. Practical solutions will be implemented to remove obstacles and promote long-term stability for this vulnerable group.

Furthermore, a presentation was given on the National Climate Change Adaptation Plan, a strategic tool to enhance Algeria’s ability to address environmental challenges. The plan focuses on assessing the impacts of climate change on water resources, agriculture, health, and ecosystems. It will also provide practical tools, including risk maps and local adaptation plans, to support decision-makers and improve on-the-ground responses.

The government’s agenda reflects an integrated approach that combines modernizing regulatory frameworks, strengthening inclusive social policies, and enhancing environmental preparedness, all in pursuit of sustainable and balanced development.
