Algiers, January 22, 2026 – Several provinces across Algeria are bracing for thunderstorms today, according to the National Meteorological Office. A special weather alert has been issued, warning of continued rainfall and gusty winds in numerous regions.
The alert, classified as “orange” level, covers the provinces of Tlemcen, Mostaganem, Chlef, Tipaza, Algiers, Boumerdes, Tizi Ouzou, Bouira, Medea, Blida, Ain Defla, Tissemsilt, Mascara, Relizane, the northern parts of Tiaret, and Saida.
Residents in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions as rainfall amounts are expected to range between 20 and 40 millimeters locally. The period of concern extends from 1:00 AM to 3:00 PM today, Thursday.
