DZWatch Exclusive: Several key roadways across Algeria have been temporarily closed due to recent severe weather conditions. Heavy snowfall and torrential rains have created hazardous travel conditions, prompting authorities to take precautionary measures.
According to the National Gendarmerie, the affected routes are primarily located in the Tizi Ouzou, Djelfa, Blida, and Relizane provinces. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes and exercise extreme caution.
In Tizi Ouzou, the National Road 33, which connects Tizi Ouzou and Bouira, is currently impassable near Assoul in the Ait Boumahdi municipality due to heavy snow accumulation. The situation is being closely monitored, and efforts are underway to clear the road.
Rising water levels have led to the closure of National Road 01A in Djelfa, specifically at the Oued El Mita bridge in Hassi Bahbah municipality. This road is a critical link between Djelfa and Laghouat, and its closure is causing significant disruptions.
The Wilaya Road 110 in Blida, connecting Blida and Tipaza, is also closed due to flooding in the Ben Hamdani center of Ben Khelil municipality. The accumulation of water has made the road unsafe for travel.
Similarly, in Relizane, Wilaya Road 52, linking Relizane and Mostaganem, is closed near Douar Es-Salihia in the Beni Zentis municipality due to overflowing water. Local authorities are working to mitigate the situation.
While these routes remain closed, the National Gendarmerie reports that traffic flow is normal on other roads. However, travelers are strongly urged to remain vigilant, adhere to all safety guidelines, and stay informed about potential changes in weather conditions. DZWatch will continue to provide updates as the situation evolves.
