President Tebboune Affirms South-South Partnership with Chad

January 22, 2026 – A message from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune was delivered to Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, underscoring Algeria’s commitment to bolstering South-South cooperation. The message was conveyed by Minister of State, Minister of hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, during a meeting with the Chadian head of state.

According to a statement, Minister Arkab presented President Déby with fraternal greetings from President Tebboune, along with a written message expressing Algeria’s keenness to strengthen ties between the two nations and deepen bilateral cooperation across various sectors.

The meeting was attended by the Algerian Ambassador to Chad, Minister of Industry Yahia Bouchouareb, Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies Mourad Adjabi, Sonatrach CEO Noureddine Daoudi, and GICA CEO Rabah Guessoum.

Minister Arkab also conveyed Algeria’s gratitude to Chad for selecting Algeria as the guest of honor at the International Exhibition of Mines, Quarries and Hydrocarbons ‘SIMICA Chad 2026,’ emphasizing that this choice reflects the depth of bilateral relations between the two countries.

President Déby requested Minister Arkab to relay his fraternal greetings and appreciation to President Tebboune, reiterating Chad’s determination to enhance bilateral cooperation with Algeria in all fields, while actively supporting African cooperation and strengthening South-South partnerships.

The Chadian President emphasized the enduring historical friendship between Chad and Algeria, built on values of trust, solidarity, and mutual support rooted in African principles of unity and solidarity among the continent’s people. He further lauded Algeria’s expertise, particularly in hydrocarbons, petrochemicals, mining, and industrial sectors such as cement production, expressing Chad’s desire to benefit from Algerian experience in these areas.This collaboration aims to enhance Chad’s economic development and foster stronger ties between the two nations.
