Algiers, DZWatch – The Rally for Culture and Democracy (RCD) has announced its participation in the work of the National People’s Assembly’s (APN) Committee on Legal and Administrative Affairs and Freedoms. The committee is currently reviewing the preliminary draft law concerning political parties.
In a statement released today, the RCD emphasized that the proposed law directly impacts the future of political pluralism and democratic freedoms in Algeria. The party noted that, at the invitation of the Presidency, it has already submitted its observations, reservations, and suggestions regarding the draft law. These contributions were submitted alongside those of other political formations, and have been officially transmitted to the relevant authorities.
The RCD delegation attending the committee hearing, scheduled for next Thursday, will include Mohamed Laabdoussi, head of the party’s committee for studying the draft law on political parties and member of the National Secretariat, and Djamel Benyoub, National Secretary in charge of Human Rights and Freedoms.
The RCD is currently led by Othmane Mazouz.
The party reiterated its unwavering commitment to defending democracy, the rule of law, and respect for political freedoms. The RCD stressed its continued struggle for a legal framework that guarantees genuine pluralism and a free and fair political life in Algeria.
