Algeria Condemns French TV’s ‘Systematic’ Campaign

The Algerian News Agency has strongly denounced what it describes as a systematic campaign against Algeria by French public broadcaster, France Télévisions. The condemnation follows the announcement of a new episode of the program ‘Complément d’enquête,’ scheduled to air on Thursday, January 22, 2026, titled: ‘Rumors and Dirty Tricks… The Secret War Between France and Algeria.’

The agency asserts that the episode is not a balanced journalistic investigation but rather a deliberate attempt to portray Algeria as an obsession and a subject of media consumption. It alleges the program relies on misinformation and echoes far-right French narratives, representing a clear departure from professional journalistic standards.

According to the Algerian News Agency, France Télévisions, which is expected to uphold rigor and professionalism, has provided a platform for dubious figures. This includes a former French diplomat described as obsessed with Algeria, who allegedly exploits anti-Algerian sentiment in France to enhance his media profile. The agency further criticizes the program for giving voice to individuals lacking intellectual credibility, contributing to the spread of doubt and the distortion of Algeria’s image among young people.

The agency emphasizes that this media degradation is not an isolated incident but rather a continuation of previous attacks on Algeria through biased narratives and the revelation of ‘secrets’ based on illusions. It suggests this reflects a deeper French crisis in terms of thought and ethics, highlighting the intellectual and editorial poverty of French public media, which it claims is failing to serve the public interest.

The Algerian News Agency concludes that the actions of French public media in this context demonstrate professional and ethical bankruptcy. It raises questions about the motivations behind the repeated targeting of Algeria, including the pursuit of high viewership ratings at the expense of accuracy and credibility.
