DZWatch News – Algiers – Several provinces across Algeria are bracing for heavy snowfall and strong winds, according to a weather alert issued this Saturday. The National Meteorological Office has indicated a level-two warning on its vigilance map, forecasting wind speeds between 50 and 70 kilometers per hour.
The strong winds are expected to affect Jijel and Skikda starting from 9:00 AM today, Saturday, continuing until 10:00 AM tomorrow, Sunday. Similarly, Tipaza, Algiers, Boumerdes, Tizi Ouzou, and Bejaia are predicted to experience similar wind conditions from 6:00 AM today until 7:00 AM tomorrow.
In addition to the wind warning, the meteorological office has issued a separate alert for heavy snowfall in areas above 1000 meters in altitude. Accumulations of 5 to 10 centimeters of snow are anticipated in Blida, Medea, Bouira, Tizi Ouzou, and Bejaia, beginning at 6:00 PM this evening and lasting until midday tomorrow, Sunday.
Furthermore, provinces including Naama, Tiaret, Tissemsilt, Saida, El Bayadh, Laghouat, and Djelfa are also under a snow advisory. Snowfall accumulations of 5 to 10 centimeters are expected in these regions, with the alert valid from 9:00 AM today until midday tomorrow, Sunday.
