Severe weather conditions, including heavy snowfall and torrential rains, have caused significant disruptions to traffic across several regions of Algeria, leading to numerous road closures. National Gendarmerie services confirmed the ongoing issues via their official ‘Tariqi’ (My Road) page.
According to reports, National Route 33, a vital link between Tizi Ouzou and Bouira provinces, is currently impassable. In Tizi Ouzou, traffic is completely halted at the Assoul area of Ait Boumahdi municipality due to heavy snow accumulation. Similarly, the section of Route 33 within Bouira province is closed at Ikoukar in Bechloul municipality for the same reason.
In central and western parts of the country, overflowing rivers and rising water levels have severed several transportation routes. In Djelfa province, National Route 01A, connecting Djelfa and Laghouat, is closed at the Oued El Mait bridge in Hassi Bahbah municipality due to flooding.
Further west, Blida province is experiencing disruptions with the closure of Provincial Road 110, which links Blida to Tipaza. This closure is located at the Ben Hamdani center in Ben Khelil municipality, attributed to overflowing waters.
Authorities have also reported that National Route 22 in Tlemcen province is closed between Tirni and Sebdou municipalities, specifically at the village of Tel Tirni. In Ghilizane province, Provincial Road 52, which connects to Mostaganem province, is blocked due to flooding at Douar Essalihia in Beni Zentis municipality.
Motorists are advised to avoid these routes and seek alternative travel plans until further notice. Authorities are working to clear the affected roads and restore normal traffic flow as soon as conditions permit. Updates will be provided as the situation evolves.
