Severe Weather Disrupts Travel Across Multiple Algerian Provinces

January 24, 2026 – Several roads across Algeria have been closed due to severe weather conditions, according to the National Gendarmerie’s ‘My Road’ information service. Disruptions have been reported in multiple provinces, impacting both national and local routes.

The National Route 33, a vital link between Tizi Ouzou and Bouira provinces, is currently impassable. In Tizi Ouzou, the affected area is near Assoul in the Ait Boumahdi municipality. On the Bouira side, the road is closed in the Ikoukar area of Bechloul municipality due to heavy snowfall.

Further south, National Route 01A, connecting Djelfa and Laghouat provinces, is closed at the Oued El Mait bridge in Hassi Bahbah municipality, Djelfa province.

In the Blida province, Provincial Route 110, which links Blida to Tipaza, is closed at the Ben Hamdani center in the Ben Khelil municipality.

In the western part of the country, National Route 22, connecting Tirni and Sebdou in Tlemcen province, is closed near the village of Tel Tirni.

Finally, in Ghilizane province, flooding has led to the closure of Provincial Route 52, which connects to Mostaganem province, specifically at the Douar Essalihia in the Beni Zentis municipality.

Motorists are advised to avoid these routes and seek alternative travel plans until further notice. The National Gendarmerie is monitoring the situation and will provide updates as conditions change. Travelers are urged to exercise caution and stay informed about weather conditions before embarking on any journey.
